[Building next-gen electrolyzers for producing green hydrogen]

Founded in 2021 by PhD engineers Prasanta Sarkar and Rochan Sinha, New Trace is “building next-gen electrolyzers” for producing green hydrogen at $1/kg. Newtrace has developed a method for producing green hydrogen that is at least 5X cheaper than traditional methods. Green hydrogen is created through a process known as ‘electrolysis,’ which divides water into hydrogen and oxygen molecules.

9. Turno

Turno, an “EV-focused fintech company”, helps operators of commercial vehicles switch to EVs. To assure the maximum return on value for EV owners, Turno offers a wide range of vehicles from partner OEMs, cheap financing, and battery value guarantees. Vidyut Tech It is making electric vehicle ownership easier by offering flexible financing and resale guarantees. The company’s goal is to speed up the adoption of electric vehicles in India.

The goal of this platform is to make owning an electric vehicle easy and stress-free. Through this EV-tech-led platform, they give customers a complete solution for buying, financing, and reselling electric vehicles. They are developing custom financing solutions as well as an electric vehicle secondary market.

22. Metastable

24. Skilancer Solar

An IIT-Jodhpur alumni, Neeraj Kumar, with Manish Kumar Das, an instrumentation engineer, launched Skilancer Solar, which designs and manufactures automatic, self-powered, water-less solar module cleaners for decentralized, rooftop, and utility scale solar power plants.

While cleaning the solar panels, a lot of water was wasted. In fact, the solar panels are cleaned with clean drinking water because normal groundwater can degrade the efficiency of these panels. To counter this, Neeraj developed a robot for cleaning solar panels as a project in his final year at IIT-Jodhpur.

The robot uses artificial intelligence to effortlessly glide across solar panel arrays, cleaning them and increasing their capacity. More than 350 robots have been manufactured by the company, with 280 of them installed at sites throughout India, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Rajasthan.

“We lend to businesses buying electric vehicles. We have our own NBFC so all lending is done on our own balance sheet because most buyers have no banking transaction data, little education, and live in small towns (tier two/three)”, said Sameer Aggarwal, Founder and CEO, RevFin.

Howdyy is an EV-led logistics startup founded in 2020 by a husband-wife duo and a friend with the goal of accelerating the adoption of sustainability in mid-mile and last-mile deliveries. Howdyy has tied up with Hero Electric, Ampere Scooters, Log9, and Bounce for fleet requirements. Currently, the startup has 1,003 electric vehicles (EVs) on the road, 725 of which are two-wheelers and 278 of which are three-wheelers. Howdyy does not own a fleet, and all vehicles are leased or rented.

Currently operating in Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad, some of Howdyy’s notable clients include Amazon, Blue Dart, Bigbasket, Apollo Pharmacy, 1MG, Porter, DMart, and others. The startup claims to make over 3,000 deliveries per day and over a million deliveries per month.

This new venture earned Jinal Mody and her partner, MIT PhD student Vidit Bhandarkar, the 2022 Sustainable Venture Prize and the audience choice award at April’s Startup Yale event which was judged by a panel of experts, academics, entrepreneurs, and investors.

“I’ve always wanted to start my own sustainable products business. As a consumer, I’m always looking for cruelty-free and vegan products, which is how I came up with the idea for Aatma ” Said Jinali Mody, who titled her company after the Sanskrit word  soul : Aatma.
