An IIT-Jodhpur alumni, Neeraj Kumar, with Manish Kumar Das, an instrumentation engineer, launched Skilancer Solar, which designs and manufactures automatic, self-powered, water-less solar module cleaners for decentralized, rooftop, and utility scale solar power plants.

While cleaning the solar panels, a lot of water was wasted. In fact, the solar panels are cleaned with clean drinking water because normal groundwater can degrade the efficiency of these panels. To counter this, Neeraj developed a robot for cleaning solar panels as a project in his final year at IIT-Jodhpur.

The robot uses artificial intelligence to effortlessly glide across solar panel arrays, cleaning them and increasing their capacity. More than 350 robots have been manufactured by the company, with 280 of them installed at sites throughout India, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Rajasthan.
